• Log House

Originally located near the intersection of Brimley Road and Sheppard Avenue, this circa 1830 Log House has been reconstructed to illustrate the home of a typical Pickering Township settler c. 1830. Such a building would have been the first real house constructed by a family in a clearing in the woods. Construction of this type of house and clearing of adequate land were often conditions of receiving title to the land. Built of squared and dovetailed timbers, it provided a single large room which was kitchen, living room and bedroom combined. The open hearth provided heat, light and a cooking area.

During the spring of 2010 the Log House was placed on cement.
